This is outrageous! Just another delay by the Bernardin crowd. They just can't accept that their recipe for the Church just didn't work, as shown by the "tremendous" upsurge of Catholic piety, fidelity, vocations, morality, devotion, and identity over the last 40 years. It's time to try something else, like something that worked for let's say 1935 years. Let's pray that Pope Benedict can appoint enough strong bishops soon enough to send the Jadot hangovers into the dustbin of history.

Exactly one year ago today, Pope Benedict released his motu proprio Summorum Pontificum, encouraging wider use of the traditional Latin Mass-- what the Holy Father calls the "extraordinary form" of the Roman rite. Implementation of the Pope's directive has been uneven at best, yet a great deal has changed, and more changes are likely, as the Pope seeks to promote to return to reverence in liturgy.

And speaking of changes: Today we pass along a very plausible, albeit unconfirmed, report about an imminent change in the Roman Curia. There another report circulating in Spain: that Cardinal Antonio Caņizares Llovera of Toledo-- regarded as a staunch ally of Pope Benedict-- will soon be named the prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship, replacing the retiring Cardinal Francis Arinze. Again the report is unconfirmed, but again it sounds
plausible.

- Phil Lawler
