It was 1988. Bishop John M. D’Arcy had given his permission but we wanted to be in communion with the Franciscans.<SPAN class=Apple-converted-space> </SPAN><BR><BR>In my letter to them, I had tried to explain that a battle was taking place between Satan and Mary at Notre Dame affecting the whole Catholic Church in America...<SPAN class=Apple-converted-space> </SPAN></FONT><FONT face="arial, helvetica, sans-serif"><I>For sure the place for a Medjugorje conference was Notre Dame!<BR><BR></I>Since then there have been 20 Medjugorje conferences at Notre Dame where Our Lady’s messages have been proclaimed and witnessed with multitudes
in attendance.<BR><BR>Today I am told that people are canceling their pre-registrations for the May 30th & 31st, 2009 National Conference because it’s being held at Notre Dame. Let’s not be too quick to concede victory to the enemy. Jenkins, CSC, had announced the 2009 commencement speaker and honoree, Our Lady appeared to Ivan in a church near Notre Dame, weeping with love and gratitude (Ivan told us) for all those who had gathered there with her (</SPAN><SPAN class=Apple-style-span style="WORD-SPACING: 0px; FONT: 16px times new roman; TEXT-TRANSFORM: none; COLOR: rgb(255,255,255); TEXT-INDENT: 0px; WHITE-SPACE: normal; LETTER-SPACING: normal; BORDER-COLLAPSE: separate; orphans: 2; widows: 2; -webkit-border-horizontal-spacing: 0px;

Jenkin’s announcement about Notre Dame’s commencement, the tabernacle in the Crypt of Notre Dame’s Basilica (Sacred Heart Parish) was returned to the sanctuary of the church in the
center behind the altar after 30+ years of being hidden in an alcove to the side facing the backs of musicians.<SPAN class=Apple-converted-space> </SPAN><BR><BR>In stark contrast, five months ago the CSC rector of Notre Dame’s Basilica removed the beautiful replica of the original image of Our Lady of Guadalupe from its place of honor in the Basilica, ceremoniously replacing it with a painting of Our Lady by a Notre Dame art professor -<SPAN class=Apple-converted-space> </SPAN><I>the ceremony taking place on December 12th during the Basilica’s 5:15 PM Mass celebrating Our Lady of Guadalupe’s Feast Day</I>! Talk about spiritual manifestations!</FONT><FONT face="arial, helvetica, sans-serif"><I>The battle is engaged...<BR><BR></I>There is nothing the Devil would like better than for Our Lady’s victories to go unnoticed and for her children to become discouraged. But it shouldn’t go unnoticed that within a year of the first Medjugorje
conference Fr. Richard McBrien (a nationally know dissenter from the Church’s teachings and paid consultant for the film<SPAN class=Apple-converted-space> </SPAN><I>The DaVinci Code</I>) would no longer be chairman of Notre Dame’s Theology Department. After the present department chairman gave a talk not long ago at Notre Dame I went up to him and asked: ‘How do you survive?” Looking down at me from over the podium - with arms outstretched, he slowly opened his right hand revealing a black rosary. Turning his head to his left and slowly opening his left hand revealed a silver rosary. He answered: “</FONT><FONT face="arial, helvetica, sans-serif"><I>This is how I survive! Pray for me. Pray for me!”<BR><BR></I>Ten years before Our Lady started coming to Medjugorje the CSC Chairman of Notre Dame’s Theology Department (later Provost) said in a talk to the parents of in-coming freshmen it was important their children coming to Notre
Dame loose their faith for the sake of intellectual growth! In a course I took from him he taught that Jesus’ bodily Resurrection didn’t really happen (he had even written this in his book)! On the first day of class my Sophomore year (1967) my Philosophy teacher told us he believed God was dead. Several years later my advisor, Chairman of the Graduate Theology Program, stated publicly that he was proud to be an atheist. (I’m told he’s recently returned to the Church, on September 8th, Our Lady’s birthday)!<SPAN class=Apple-converted-space> </SPAN><BR><BR>When Notre Dame had its first web page - soon after the Medjugorje conferences began in 1989 - at the bottom of the page titled “Spiritual Life” was an announcement that ND vans would be leaving from the main circle at 7:00 PM every Wednesday night for a Medjugorje Rosary off campus: all students were encouraged to join. One Wednesday after the rosary David Wade exclaimed his
gratitude to Our Lady – her messages had changed his life! He said he was going to begin a new club on campus, “Children of Mary!” Borrowing a little statue of Mary and a picture of Our Lady of Medjugorje he set up a card table on registration day in Stepan Center the following semester along with all other Notre Dame clubs inviting students to join. So many signed up to pray the rosary every night his dorm room was packed with a line winding out into the hallway.... Eventually they moved to the Grotto – and then to include Mass, Zahm Hall chapel.<BR><BR>The club’s charter states “Children of Mary” was founded to spread Our Lady’s messages from Medjugorje. It continued growing for 13 years, eventually beginning Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Members would petition students and Theology professors to sign up for an hour of Adoration (24 hours in the chapel in Fisher Hall – the professor holding
the rosaries who became Chairman of the Theology Department - the father of seven children - took from 7 PM to 8 PM every Tuesday night)! The club would print Our Lady’s monthly message on little table top tents - placing one on every table in the dining halls every month. When one member became editor of the Observer the student newspaper looked for every opportunity to publish Our Lady’s messages.<BR><BR>For many years, the first weekend every May, students would borrow the statue of Mary used for the Medjugorje conferences and carry it throughout the campus in a long procession praying the rosary and consecrating Notre Dame to Our Lady! (The girls with their beautiful long hair reading St. Louis de Montfort’s consecration prayers and the guys fighting over who got to carry Our Lady!) “Children of Mary” was instrumental in getting Campus Ministry to reinstate the campus wide Eucharistic Procession that hadn’t taken place at
Notre Dame in more than 40 years! <BR><BR>In 1989 when the first Notre Dame Medjugorje conference took place it was Notre Dame's policy that no one knelt during the consecration at Mass in the church (now Basilica). Today everybody kneels - at every Mass! Back then you rarely saw a CSC priest on campus wearing his Roman Collar. Today not only is nearly every priest wearing a collar, the young ones have voted (much to the shock of elderly CSCs) to wear full cassock with cape and little beanie - as priests did long ago at Notre Dame!<SPAN class=Apple-converted-space> </SPAN><BR><BR>The first screening of the movie BELLA - before its premiere - was at Notre Dame. Eduardo Verastigue phoned me at the last minute inviting me to come to the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center (when that building was going up students had placed throughout its foundation miraculous medals blessed by Our Lady in Medjugorje). None of the invited guests, including Fr.
Jenkins, showed up. My wife and I ended up being the only audience! Afterwards I remember the shocked look on the faces of Eduardo and his partner, Leo Severino, when they witnessed long lines of students going to confession in the Basilica. They decided to stay after the 11:30 AM Mass for Eucharistic Adoration (initiated and run in the Basilica by the student club founded to spread Our Lady’s messages). They were so moved by such witnesses of faith they couldn’t pull themselves away and stayed also for the 5:15 PM Mass - cutting it close to making their flight in Chicago.<BR><BR>The battle is on-going. Many of Our Lady’s victories, that haven’t made headlines but have slowly changed some things for the better at Notre Dame, have come up from the bottom - from students. In her first message of the new millennium Our Lady asked us all to allow the newborn Jesus to lead us: “Only in this way, little children, this century will be for you a
time of peace and well-being.” A child will follow a child. “I thank Thee Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou has hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to babes,” (Lk. 10:21).<SPAN class=Apple-converted-space> </SPAN><BR><BR>There is a battle raging over the Church in America and its Ground Zero right now is at Notre Dame. The devil wants us to give up hope. But Our Lady will be victorious through her children.<SPAN class=Apple-converted-space> </SPAN><I>”This time is my time”<SPAN class=Apple-converted-space> </SPAN></I>she’s said.<BR><BR>What is happening at the university named for Our Lady is a microcosm of what is happening in the world. No matter how dark things appear, Our Lady can ignite a spark in even one soul that becomes a flame with unimagined results.<SPAN class=Apple-converted-space> </SPAN><I>”Dear children, I want you to comprehend that God has chosen
each one of you, in order to use you in a great plan for the salvation of mankind. You cannot comprehend how great your role is in God's plan. Therefore, dear children, pray so that through prayer you may comprehend God's plan through you. I am with you so that you can realize it completely!”</I></FONT></SPAN></SPAN></SPAN></P></B>
