Appeals heard oral arguments from the Thomas More
Law Center that a resolution passed by the San
Francisco Board of Supervisors that condemns
Catholic beliefs on homosexuality is
unconstitutional. </SPAN>The case was
dismissed by a federal district court and a
3-member panel of the Court of Appeals, but the
full Court voted to hear the case.<BR><BR><SPAN
style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold">The resolution called
Catholic moral beliefs "insulting to all San
Franciscans," "hateful," "insulting and callous,"
and "absolutely unacceptable." </SPAN>But the U.S.
Constitution prohibits official expressions of
hostility to a religion or its doctrines.<BR><BR

style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold">Former Secretary of
Education William Bennett has written a new book,
The True Saint Nicholas: Why He Matters to
Christmas. </SPAN> St. Nicholas was a bishop
