Jessica Hsiang 916-551-1383</STRONG></FONT><BR><BR>YORBA LINDA, CA - Author and
political strategist Dick Morris today announced his endorsement of U.S. Senate
candidate Carly Fiorina.<BR><BR>"It is my pleasure to endorse Carly Fiorina in
the Republican Senate primary on June 8. While I have a high regard for Carly's
record and position on issues, my endorsement is based mainly on the fact that I
believe she would be the best candidate to achieve victory for Republicans in
November over Senator Boxer. <BR><BR>"The conventional wisdom that a moderate
does better than a conservative in a California statewide election does not, in
my opinion, hold true for this year. The idea that a moderate is preferable
largely stems from his position on social issues, such as abortion. But, in this
time of economic crisis, I believe pocketbook issues overwhelm social concerns.
On these issues, I believe Carly - as a true conservative - has the advantage.
Not only has she signed the No Tax Pledge, unlike Congressman Campbell, but she
supports the Arizona law on immigration and is far more opposed to the
tax-and-spend policies of the Obama administration, which threaten to make
America into the new Greece.<BR><BR>"The Los Angeles Times poll showing Carly
winning the primary but losing to Boxer, while Campbell defeats Boxer, is
misleading in the extreme. Apart from serious concerns about their methodology
and sampling, the result is explained by the fact that Campbell has run
statewide so frequently that he has the initial advantage over a newcomer like
Carly. But this edge in statewide name recognition and familiarity would be
easily nullified in the opening weeks of a statewide general election campaign.
But, in the Republican primary, where Carly is much better known, she maintains
a strong lead. <BR><BR>"In any case, the most important finding of the poll is
that Boxer draws less than 50 percent of the vote and seems mired in the low 40s
against any opponent. Since an incumbent invariably loses the undecided vote,
the true meaning of these polls is that either Campbell or Fiorina could defeat
Boxer. <BR><BR>"So we might as well elect a conservative Republican instead of a
candidate who has waffled on the No Tax Pledge. <BR><BR>"Chuck DeVore is
admirable, but has little chance to win this primary. So I believe conservatives
should rally to Carly."<BR><BR>Morris has served as a columnist for the New York
Post and The Hill; he is also a regular guest on the Fox News Channel and has
written nine best-selling books. His most recent book, 2010: Take Back America:
A Battle Plan, was released in April 2010.<BR><BR>Morris will be announcing his
endorsement during a lecture at the Richard Nixon Library in Yorba Linda at 7
p.m. today. Press interested in speaking with Morris directly about his
endorsement are welcome to attend the lecture and may contact Nixon Library
Foundation Vice President Sandy Quinn at (714) 364-1153 for more information.
