Dear Gathnetters,

It has been a long time since I wrote a note here. I have a problem trying not to be too negative
on the way things are in this country now. Anyway, even though I always knew as an atmospheric
scientist, that the solar warming thing is a hoax, I am taking advantage of the laws passed both
in California and Washington in the form of rebates and tax credits and am having an on-grid solar
system installed on the house. Actually, here in east San Diego county, we have lots and lots of sun.
It makes sense just from the economic side of things to get it installed. This means we can run the
air conditioners all during the day with out having to pay for their power. I am very anxious to see
the electric meter go backward! Of course during night time and cloudy weather, we are still
connected to the grid for full power. The guys are here today installing the 24 panels on the roof.

Actually, only one neighbor will be able to see the panels and with no shade in the area it is being
installed, I will get the maximum power possible from the panels. Sooo while we don't have all the
nice wood Jonathan has for heating we do have lots of sun. I may have to change our gas water
heaters over to electricity if it seems economical enough.

I will let you know the progress of this.

Well, I will be teaching physics lab for the home school consortium again this coming year with a
full class. I am told that I will be having some very bright young people this year so I am looking
forward to the experience. One of the students will be my grand daughter, Rachel McClatchey.

I will be heading to North Carolina and Virginia in the middle of May. Will visit with Cathy and Dave,
Stuart David and family and be able to attend Ronda's college graduation. I will be coming back on the
29th.

sincerely der altgrossvater

HotmailŪ goes with you. Get it on your BlackBerry or iPhone.
