Dear Gathnetters and Friends,

This is a special moment here in SOCAL for me. I actually am watching the electric meter go backwards! The guys finished up (except for putting the decorative roof tiles back in place because we are waiting for inspection of the setup). The meter is giving about 4.8 kw which if working at this rate for 12 hours, would be almost 60kwh of energy produced. The electric company has a complex method of calculating bills, but in their sample, The home used 1038 kwh in a month and they had to pay $209 for this energy. This is a cost of about 20 cents per kilowatt hour. Thus each day the solar system is producing about $12 of energy. This becomes $360 per month or.... $4320 per year. Of course you have to discount the winter time production etc but never the less it is quite sizeable. The break even point is between 6 and 8 years.

I am encluding a picture of the system (close and distant) as it was almost completed on the roof. The only extra item is the inverter which about 18" by 20" mounted on the wall and the final panel which was at the point in which the picture was taken was left out ot connect all of the wires together.

The only thing I have against the inverter is that it "calculates" the amount of CO2 I am saving. What ROT! Oh well I feel sorry for the poor plants who are being deprived of nurishment because of this crazy Gorism. The only reason I did this is because I am sure energy will be skyrocketing in the very near future because of "cap and trade" and because broke California and broke B.O. are giving me about 1/2 the cost of the system in the way of "rebates" and tax breaks. It also increases the value of the house but here in California this doesn't count on the value of the house for property tax purposes.
This is a better use of money than leaving it in mutual funds to lose value day by day.

Love to you all, Der Altgrossvater

HotmailŪ goes with you. Get it on your BlackBerry or iPhone.
