Interview with a Young Girl

Stephanie is 13 years old.  Her family goes to a Charismatic Bible Church.  I asked her some questions about Christian doctrine. This church emphasizes parental responsibility for Christian education, so her parents get a lot of credit for her answers.

  1. What have you learned from the Church youth program?
  2. How to serve God and the Church.  How to live for Jesus.  How to pray.  How to grow in relationship with God and others.

  3. What is the Trinity, and where did you learn about it?
  4. I think the Trinity means that God has three parts, but I'm not sure.  It hasn't come up in class.

  5. How do I get to Heaven?
  6. Believe that God died for you.  Obey what God tells you.  Admit that you are a sinner, and that you need God.  Hope in God - trust Him for your future.

  7. Do you believe that we are saved by faith and not by works?
  8. Yes.

  9. What is faith?
  10. Faith means to put your hope and trust in God, believe what He says, and obey what you tells you.

  11. What does it mean to be saved?
  12. Salvation is a commitment of faith - when you turn you life over to God.

  13. What are works?
  14. Works are our efforts to earn our way to Heaven.  But God says, "All our righteousness is as filthy rags."  We cannot please God on our own.

  15. Are there any works that please God?
  16. Works done by His help and through His Grace are worthy in His eyes.
