Visions of the Kingdom: Week 15
- 13:2 "your own imagination" - their false prophesies were not
demonic, but wishful thinking and foolishness.
"Hear the word of the LORD" - stop following your heart
and follow the LORD.
- 13:6 "yet they wait for the fulfillment of their message" - they
believed their own propaganda.
- 13:7 "Thus saith the LORD, even though I have not spoken" - I
hear this in churches today, and have grave doubts about the
source of the message. Have they read this chapter?
- 13:14 "you will be destroyed within it" - all the false prophets
were to die. They claimed "thus saith the LORD", but were lying,
and were to be put to death.
Deuteronomy 18:20
Jeremiah, on the other hand, was saved alive.
- 13:18 "magic charms ... to hunt souls" - the false prophesies of
the women, on the other hand, were occult in origin. Like Nimrod
they were hunters of men's souls.
- 13:19 "lying to my people who listen to lies" - the false prophetesses
were culpable for lying, but also the people for listening.
