Jeremiah is called in the 13th year of Josiah. Huldah prophesies the doom of Judah in the 18th year. For the next 12 years, the message of Jeremiah comes to a people awaiting punishment. But the severity of that punishment depends on whether they repent and return to the Lord. The government under Josiah can only destroy the public worship of Baal.
