The New Covenant
- 31:28 “to build and to plant” - their future prosperity will be as thorough
as the destruction visited on them for their sin.
- 31:29 “the children’s teeth on set on edge” - God does indeed
“visit the iniquity of the fathers on their children to the third and fourth
generations of those who hate Me,” but if the children repent, He
“shows loving devotion to a thousand generations of those who love Me and
keep My commandments.” Exodus 20:5-6
- 31:30 “instead .. each will die for his own iniquity” - Ezekiel also
addresses this in Ezekiel 18:2
- 31:31 “a new covenant” - this started when Jesus said, “This is My
blood of the new covenant”.
Matthew 26:28
- 31:33 “My law in their minds and inscribe it on their hearts” - the
New Covenent works through changed lives.
- 31:36 Israel will never cease to be a nation before God as long as this
world exists.
- 31:37 No, Israel has not been “cast off”. Disciplined, yes.
- 31:40 “never again be uprooted or demolished” - Jerusalem is forever when
Messiah comes again.
