The Fall of Jerusalem
- 39:1 “laid seige to the city” - the Chaldeans are back.
Lamentations 4
- 39:2 “the city was breached” - " Josephus describes it: “The battering ram
took its last run at the walls. Darts from the enemy siege mounds arched into
the midnight sky and struck their mark in flames. Famine had already claimed
many lives inside the walls. Five Babylonian princes marched through the
streets of Jerusalem, their faces illuminated by the flames of destruction.”
- 39:4 “through the gate between the two walls” - Zedekiah tries to escape,
even though God warned him at his last interview,
38:23, with Jeremiah, “you
yourself will not escape their grasp, you will be seized by the king of
Babylon”. Repeatedly. 34:2
- 39:5 “in the plains of Jerico .. they seized him” - he almost made it, but
as God warned him, he did not escape their grasp. Up in Babylon the exiles
heard on SRN (Spirit Revealed News) that God said “I will spread My net
over him, and he shall be caught in My snare.”

“brought him to Nebuchadnezzer at Riblah” - the face to face meeting that
Zedekiah dreaded, his Gold Throne Judgement, was upon him, and he was
without excuse.
- 39:6 “killed the sons .. and all the nobles” - as God warned Jeremiah, his
family is killed before his eyes. And the Judah Deep State gets its due.
- 39:7 “put out Zedekiah’s eyes” - fulfilling the prophecy of Ezekiel above.
- 39:10 “left the poor” - the slave owners were dead or captive. The slaves
now had their property. “The last shall be first.”
- 39:12 “look after him” - God took care of Jeremiah as He had promised.
- 39:16 “go tell Ebed-melech” - God had also promised to deliver Ebed-melech
from death.
- 39:18 “because you have trusted in Me” - Amen
