Habakkuk: Week 4

The prophet reviews the mighty works of God in poetic imagery.

3:2 "I have heard the report of you" - he remembers the mighty works of the LORD, and pleads for the LORD to move in power again.
3:3 "the Holy One from Mount Paran" - Deuteronomy 33:2 "flaming fire from his right hand" - see next verse.
3:4 "Rays flashed from His hand" - an amazing visual often appropriated by "New Age" (ye are gods) belief.
3:10 "The deep ... lifted its hands on high" - the walls of water!
3:11 "Sun and moon stood still" - Joshua 10:12-13
3:13 "You crushed the head of the house of the wicked" - Genesis 3:15

3:16 "Yet I must wait patiently for the day of distress to come upon the people who invade us." Their turn will come.
3:17 Philippians 4:12 "I know how to be abased and abound."
3:18 "yet I will exult in the LORD; I will rejoice in the God of my salvation!" Philippians 4:4 "Rejoice in the LORD always, and again I say, rejoice!"
3:19 "God is my strength" - He gives me hinds feet on high places. Philippians 4:13
