Giving in to Temptation for Lust and Selfish Reason
an original poem in Terza Rima by Laura Beth Gathman
There is a feeling you will find
sneaks upon you when you're unaware,
but when it comes you pay no mind.
At first you think it's something you can bear.
The consequence won't be that bad
and besides, this time is rare.
But when it's done, what's done 'tis done and now you wish you had
listened to that feeling which at that time
made no sense, not even a tad.
Now you've crossed the line.
If only I'd looked past the lie
this consequence would not be mine.
Our nature is sly.
We like to try and bend the rules
but in the end, we won't get by.
