Matthew 17:1-13: The Glory of the King

• 17:3 Luke tells us that Moses and Elijah were also glorified. This is the normal state of humanity. We on earth have gone dark because we were dead in our tresspasses and sins. Exodus 34:34-35

  Why Moses and Elijah? They represent the Law and the Prophets. "For all the Law and Prophets prophecied until John." 11:13

• 17:4 Luke tells us that Peter jumped up and said this when he saw Moses and Elijah getting ready to leave.
• 17:5 "listen to Him" - Moses had said, "The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your brothers. You must listen to him." Deuteronomy 18:15
  "All that I need is Jesus!"
• 17:8 "Veiled in flesh, the Godhead He!"
• 17:9 Why was this hidden until after the resurrection?
• 17:12 "Elijah has already come" - "For all the Prophets and the Law prophesied until John. And if you are willing to accept it, he is the Elijah who was to come." 11:14
