California AG to file suit against freedom of
conscience law 

Sacramento, Dec. 10 (CWNews.com) - California's
attorney general said this week that he will file a
lawsuit to block a new US law that prevents states
from forcing health care providers to perform
abortions. 

Under the Hyde-Weldon amendment, state and local
governments receiving federal funds for health and
welfare cannot discriminate against health care
providers who refuse to perform, pay for, provide
insurance coverage for, or provide referrals for
abortion.
