Reactions to Terri's death warn of the implications,
precedents set

Boston, Mar. 31 (CWNews.com) - Reactions to the death
of Terri Schiavo this morning after her court-ordered
starvation were pouring in from all over the world.
While most offered condolences for her family and
prayers for her eternal rest, they also contained
stark warnings of what this death represents for the
future.

Cardinal Renato Martino, president of the Pontifical
Council for Justice and Peace, who has spoken out
about the Schiavo case several times, said that
depriving Terri of food and water is tantamount to
murder and that those who stood by and did nothing
were accomplices.

Vatican officials call Terri's death "murder"

Rome, Mar. 31 (CWNews.com) - The Vatican has called
the death of disabled woman Terri Schiavo a "murder"
and "arbitrarily hastened." Joaquin Navarro-Valls,
spokesman for the Holy See, said of Schiavo's death on
Thursday due to court-ordered starvation and
dehydration, "nourishing a person can never be
regarded as extraordinary therapy."

Cardinal Lozano Barragan, president of the Pontifical
Council for Health Care, told the I.Media news agency
that the death of the American woman qualifies as
"murder" and "euthanasia."
