Jesse Jackson Sees Schiavo Case As Profound Moral
Issue

(CNSNews.com) - What is happening to Terri Schiavo is
"immoral and it's unnecessary," the Rev. Jesse Jackson
said on Tuesday, aligning himself with religious
conservatives and pro-life activists who have gathered
outside the brain-damaged woman's hospice in Pinellas
Park, Fla.
"She is being starved to death. She is being
dehydrated to death. And this is inhumane," Jackson
said at a press conference after visiting Terri and
praying with her family.
He said there is no "rational reason" for such a thing
to happen to happen to Terri.
Jackson said he's contacted the Florida Senate, urging
members to come up with emergency legislation to stop
Terri's starvation. He said he's also called the
governor's office, but has not yet heard back.
And he said he called Michael Schiavo, Terri's husband
and legal guardian, asking to pray with him - but
Schiavo refused.
"This is one of the profound moral, ethical issues of
our time," Jackson said. "Today we pray for a miracle.
We ask God's intervention, and God has done it
before."
Jackson said he is reaching out to people of faith,
"across lines that divide."
Terri is in her eleventh day without food or water.
