An excellent website run by politically conservative Jews:
http://www.jewishworldreview.com/
You will find that the more orthodox Jews are theologically, the
more conservative they are politically.
While Christmas does not fit within traditional Jewish theology,
Advent does. A Jewish family at Brownies asked to go "caroling"
with secular "carols" (Frosty the Snowman, etc). I will make
the proposal to go Advent caroling instead. For instance, "O come, O come
Emmanuel" should be compatible with both Christians and Jews.
I am looking for more material that is purely Advent (doesn't mention
"born of Mary"). I will also include old carols that are not specifically
Christian: "Here we go a Wassailing", "Deck the Halls", etc.
Of course, there is some resistance to celegrating their own Jewish
religion. And that, of course, is my insidious aim. The more they
take orthodox Jewish religion seriously, the more they will come
face to face with the Messiah. "Be true to the light you have."
