Muslim Americans Fear Movie Backlash
(CNSNews.com) - American Muslims are concerned that
the new movie "United 93" is reviving anti-Muslim
sentiment in this country. The Council on
American-Islamic Relations says one of its employees
and two of her friends, all Muslims, were verbally
abused by a middle-aged couple at mall in Scottsdale,
Ariz. The couple, who indicated they had just seen
"United 93," reportedly told the three women to take
off their [obscenity] burqas and get the [blank] out
of this country." Bushra Khan, the office manager for
CAIR-Arizona, said she believes the couple was
associating all Muslims with the 9/11 terrorists. Dina
El-Nakhal, director of communications for
CAIR-Sacramento Valley, said the movie, by portraying
the terrorists as devout Muslims, misrepresents the
ideals of the majority of Islam followers and makes
generalizations about the faith. "You feel like you
are being painted by a general brush," El-Nakhal was
quoted as saying.
