Mike Farris has done tremendous work for homeschooling. And HSLDA
benefits Catholics as well as Protestants and Secularists.
However, at the last lecture of his I attended, he betrayed
a significant prejudice. The lecture included the "example"
of the Catholic church supressing Bible publishing. Afterword,
I spoke with him briefly, pointing out that the Church published
their own Bibles, and the issue was suppression of competition
in the form of black market translations that had not
been approved (and the price of approved versions being much too high).
His move to step down from the prominent position is wise.
The college needed him to get started, but like every good
entrepreneur, it is time to turn over the reins to those with
more administrative gifts.
Please don't discount the good work he does because of his
anti-Catholic prejudice. While very short on time, he *is* open to correction.
