Announcement Dims Hopes for Amicable Deal Over

Hopes for a peaceful settlement between the Episcopal
Diocese of Virginia and nine breakaway congregations
suffered a blow yesterday when the diocese announced
it would not renew a mutual promise to avoid
litigation over property.
