I've found it most useful to just ask questions.  On the one hand, the
questions can help determine if there is a misunderstanding between the
sides (e.g. "justification").  On the other hand, if the other position truly
is irrational, insightful questions can make this clear without any
denunciation.  If the question disturbs someones cognitive dissonance, you
might even get kicked out :-)

Jesus asked questions with honest seekers ("Why do you call me good? There is
no one good but God.") but denounced the dishonest ones ("You brood of
vipers!").  Unfortunately, we can't absolutely know someones heart.
They might be passionate but misguided.
