[Apologetics] Re: The Imam of Canterbury and other stories

Hi again

The previous Archbishop of Canterbury has some interesting things to say in response to his successor's statement:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2008/02/10/nsharia610.xml

He starts off defending Williams, but then goes on to highlight the problems.

Am I correct in remembering that the gay priest agenda and female priest agenda only became problematic once Williams took over? Or was Carey also involved in that?

God bless,
Stephen

I definitely agree with Damian Thompson:

"This is the most monumentally stupid thing I have
ever heard an Archbishop of Canterbury say, and I've
heard a few. In fact, it's more than stupid: it's
  disgusting.

"The idea that 'one law for everyone' is 'a bit of a
danger', as Williams argues, goes against every
tradition of English law and culture that the Primate
of All England is supposed to uphold."

  Thompson thinks Williams is finished.

Stuart, how are Anglican Archbishops of Canterbury
selected? How can they be removed? What do you think
  of this controversy?

Bret, I very much welcome your comments too. Ditto for
  everyone in the Apologetics Group.
