Translation: "We think we believe in historic Christianity but we can't tell
you what that is because we can't agree on what language to use. (And the
language of the historic creeds won't work because it makes some of us
uncomfortable.)" Seems to fall woefully short of Peter's admonition to be
"ready always to [give] an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the
hope that is in you with meekness and fear."
