I can't support yet more special privileges for immorality, but I do support
"domestic partnerships" that aren't restricted to the sexually immoral. My
father was raised by his mother and her brother as domestic partners after his
father was killed in a "Saving Private Ryan" type mission in WWII. The
Catholic solution to living with multiple broken marriages (divorced, but
raising kids with someone) amounts to domestic partnership. The issue is not
tax benefits (which already favor getting divorced), but legal rights in case
of sickness or death: Visitation rights, a say in whether to pull the plug,
default inheritance, etc.
