Why is Gordon Brown "considering" abolishing the Act of Settlement that stops Catholics marrying into the Royal Family or becoming monarch? The answer has nothing to do with human rights and everything to do with his fear of losing the Scottish Catholic vote at the general election.


The Cardinal's intervention in the embryo bill row was significant

Significantly, it was Cardinal Keith O'Brien of St Andrews and Edinburgh who really stoked up the row about Catholic Labour MPs being forced to vote in favour of the "monstrous" creation of human-animal hybrid embryos.
