Stuart,

I'm glad to hear there are no advocates of salvation
by intellectual assent alone.

However, I think there are quite a few Protestnat
religions which think that by answering a one-time
altar call and sincerely accepting Jesus as their Lord
and personal savior, they will positively, absolutely
go to Heaven NO MATTER WHAT they do or don't do years
or decades from that moment.

Do you agree there are millions of people who believe
this?

Do you agree that they believe that future UNrepentant
sins will NOT keep them from Heaven, because they are
saved?

Do you agree that millions of people think that it is
NOT really necessary (desireable, perhaps, but NOT
required for their salvation) to love their neighbor,
as defined by Jesus in the Good Samaritan, and engage
in other acts of charity, as defined by Jesus in
Matthew 25?

Do you agree that a lot of fundamentalist-types think
that, after receiving Jesus, they have absolute
assurance of salvation and have NO chance of going to
Hell?

All of these people believe in salvation by faith
alone.

Now, I grant you I am interweaving faith alone with
once saved, always saved. These are seperate
doctrines, but for these people, it is the same thing.

If anyone were to say that they were justified by
their sincee faith in Jesus and all that he taught but
knew they could lose their justification by future
sins (of omisson or commision) for which they were not
sorry, then they would be completely in line with
Catholicism.

But that's NOT what some/many/most Protestant
religions believe.

After their initial justification (they call it
salvation), millions of people think that they WILL go
to heaven--no matter what they do or fail to
do!--becase they are SAVED BY FAITH ALONE.
