Editor's note. Please send your much appreciated comments to

Lots and lots and lots going on today, so let me get right to it. Let me
first thank all who wrote about yesterday's TN&V, the topic of which was
pro-life Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.
The numerous hit-jobs needed a response, and I tried my best. If you
have a chance, go to www.politico.com/news/stories/0709/24606.html. It
is the finest rebuttal of the venomous nonsense spewed out against Palin
that I've read. (And I've read a lot of 'em!)
I've attached a link to the latest from NRLC concerning the attempt by
pro-abortion President Obama and the equally pro-abortion Democratic
leadership in the House and Senate "to smuggle into federal law sweeping
expansions of access to abortion on demand, including federal funding of
abortion, through 'health care reform' legislation.'"

NARAL President Nancy Keenan and
Pro-Abortion President Barack Obama
The leadership knows how deeply unpopular this would be, and works night
and day to keep the public in the dark. Pro-abortion organizations,
however, are less discrete.
"I think the big picture here is how do we make sure that all women and
families, regardless of their income, can get access to the full range
of health care options, and I think health care reform is going to
provide a platform for doing that," said Cecile Richards, president of
the Planned Parenthood Federation of America in comments reported by
National Public Radio in April.
Then there is NARAL President Nancy Keenan, responding on the blog of
The American Prospect. The subject was, "What Will Health Reform Mean
for Reproductive Rights?" She was asked, "At this point in time, are you
confident health reform will be a step forward for women's access to
reproductive health care, or are you concerned it will actually be a
step back?"
To understand her answer, we need to remember that key pro-abortion
Democrats have offered two different health-care restructuring bills.
Both of these bills would empower panels of appointed officials to
mandate coverage of abortion on demand in virtually all health plans.
And they do all this without ever mentioning the word "abortion."
Keenan put it this way in the interview, which was released on July 7:
"if, indeed, we can advance a panel or commission, then I am very
optimistic about reproductive health care being part of this entire
package."
The Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice (RCRC) did PPFA and
NARAL one worse, cutting right to the chase in an email sent out July 1.
In the first two paragraphs Reverend Carlton W. Veazey, RCRC's President
and CEO, laid out the "threat":
"Members of the Senate Finance Committee are considering a provision to
exclude abortion services from health care reform legislation. This is
unacceptable and we need you to weigh in now.
"Our crusade for inclusive, moral healthcare reform is under fire," he
continued. "Please act now to preserve the current standard of
reproductive healthcare and ensure that millions of uninsured and
underinsured women will have access to these services."
In case anyone somehow missed the point, Rev. Veazey laid it out in
black and white: "Let there be no mistake, basic healthcare includes
abortion services."
Take a minute and go to www.nrlc.org/AHC/Index.html. There you will
brought up to speed and shown how you can help to defeat "one of the
greatest threats to pro-life policies since the Supreme Court handed
down its Roe v. Wade ruling legalizing abortion in 1973."
In Part Two
<http://www.nrlc.org/News_and_Views/July09/nv070709part2.html> , we'll
discuss what is being described as the "loosening" or "easing" of
"restrictions on the use of embryonic stem cells. You will want to read
about this unfortunate development.
