Stuart Gathman, a CANA member, says that Churches should make sure
their young people understand basic high-school math (as well as basic
literacy and history - but in this case math). This was a major
outreach of Churches a century and more ago (Sunday School wasn't
original about donuts and insipid politcally correct "bible lessons"
designed not to offend any parishioners). It has been replaced
with worshipping at the altar of Almighty Government.
Why basic math in this instance? Well, lets say your condom or other
disease and pregnancy prevention device is 99.9% effective (that's
better than anything claimed by manufacturers). That's pretty good
odds if you only "do it" once. But, suppose you do it every week for
a year? Why then you find your 99.9% effective device is only %95
percent effective (.999^52). Not so good anymore, huh? Suppose you
do it twice a week for a year? Only 90% effective. Once a week for 4
years of high school? 81% effective. Once a week for 6 years from
age 13 to 19? 73% effective. What's the US teen pregnancy rate?
Coincidence?
Basic math. What do they teach young people in these "schools"? Who
listens to the obviously (to any numerate listener, even a secular
one) misleading crap diseminated by these condom advocates? It's as
bad as the stuff you get in corporate marketing literature.
Oh wait...
