Republicans won big victories in this month's elections because of
landslide support from independent voters.  Politico.com writes, "Since
then, a flurry of new polls makes clear that Democrats are facing deeper
problems with independents."

Rassmussen Reports continue to show voters preference for the GOP to
take control of Congress in the 2010 elections.  Independents heavily
favor Republicans, 41% to 24%.

The latest Rassmussen daily tracking report found approval matching "the
lowest Approval Index rating yet recorded for this President."  Another
Rassmussen poll indicates that 58% of voters think a Republican is
likely to win the 2012 presidential election.

In a cover article on Sarah Palin, Newsweek abandoned all pretense of
objectivity, blaring "She's bad news for the GOP--and everyone else
too."  But 59% of GOP voters say Palin shares their values.

Benefits:



The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services issued a blistering
report on Obamacare, saying it would serious harm all Americans,
especially seniors.  The Heritage Foundation called the report "the
death blow for Obamacare."

The report indicates that the cuts in Medicare the President wants are
likely to be devastating to doctors, hospitals, and nursing homes.
Medical providers would be forced to stop taking Medicare altogether,
thereby "jeopardizing access to care for beneficiaries."

The Washington Post found that the report was similar to the analysis
from the Congressional Budget Office, "which also has questioned the
sustainability of proposed Medicare cuts." The top Republican on the
House Ways and Means Committee says the report is a stark warning about
the financial future of the nation.

A CNN poll found that voters oppose federal funding of abortions 61% to
37% with 2% undecided.  63% of the people have general pro-life views
versus 36% who mostly support abortion rights.

Democrats may lose millions of Catholic voters over the abortion issue.
One analyst warns, "There could be political repercussions in the
election."

The Freedom From Religion Foundation filed a lawsuit to remove the
engravings of "In God We Trust" and "under God" from the U.S. Capitol
Visitors Center.  The American Center for Law and Justice has filed an
amicus brief in on behalf of 44 Republicans in the Senate and House
seeking dismissal of the case.
