Conservatives and the GOP:

Republicans have encountered severe fundraising problems, especially in
the House. Democratic committee has $26 million on hand to only $10
million for the GOP.

Congressman Tom Cole (OK) and Kevin Brady (TX) have been assigned to
extract campaign funds from Republican members of Congress. "It's a
brutal exercise in peer pressure," Cole says.

If the election were held today, the GOP would win 46% to 36%. If
undecided persons didn't vote, it would be 56.1% to 43.9%.

47% approve of President Obama's performance in office, while 52%
disapprove. 41% strongly disapprove, only 31% strongly approve.

In 10 races for governor and senator around the nation, Republicans lead
in 9 of them. Only in California gubernatorial race does the Democrat
lead.

Benefits:

The cast of the 1960s Patty Duke Show has reunited to film a public
service announcement to promote applying for Medicare online. Social
Security Commissioner Michael Astrue thanked Duke, William Schallert,
Eddie Applegate, and Paul O'Keefe for reprising their original roles "to
help us get the word out."

The latest poll shows 56% of the people favoring repeal of Obamacare,
41% wanting to keep the new law, and 3% undecided. 48% feel strongly
that Obamacare should be repealed, while 29% strongly want to retain it.

In Congress, 5 new senators and 8 new representatives have become
cosponsors of one or more of the bills to repeal Obamacare. Senator
John McCain signed on as a cosponsor April 20.

Altogether, there are now 21 senators and 73 House members sponsoring or
cosponsoring legislation to totally repeal the new law. One Democrat
who voted for Obamacare has introduced a bill to repeal the special
deals in it that were used to buy votes in the Senate.

Values:

Oklahoma has become the 22nd state to file suit to overturn the new
Obamacare law. The other states are Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Colorado,
Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi,
Nebraska, Nevada, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South
Dakota, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Washington.

The U.S. Supreme Court heard oral arguments in the Christian Legal
Society (CLS) v Martinez case in which the Hastings College of Law
(HCL), University of California at San Francisco, excluded the CLS from
campus because of its belief in Jesus and Christian principles of
morality. The Washington Post editorialized in support of CLS, writing
that the HCL position was "absurd."

Federal Judge Susan Bolton ruled that Phoenix's noise ordinance was
unconstitutional, because it prevented churches from softly ringing
bells but allowed louder ice cream trucks to play music. Rick Painter,
a bishop in the Cathedral of Christ the King Liturgical Charismatic
Church, had received a jail sentence and 3 years probation for ringing
his church's bells.

Have a great week!
