Go here to learn What's Happening with Conservatives and the GOP:
Lamar Alexander, the #3 ranking Republican in the Senate, said he did not consider President Obama to be an ideologue. In addition to what Obama has done as president, he had the most liberal record of any senator.
Conservative Marco Rubio now a 12 point lead over moderate Charlie Crist for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senator from Florida. Either Rubio or Crist would easily defeat the expected Democratic candidate, Congressman Kendrick Meek.
For governor of Florida, the current attorney general, Bill McCollum, leads Democrat Adelaide "Alex" Sink 46% to 35%. McCollum is a former congressman, while Sink is the wife of the 2002 Democratic nominee for governor.
Texas Republican Governor Rick Perry leads GOP primary challengers Kay Bailey Hutchison and Debra Medina. Polls show Perry, Hutchison, or Medina would beat the likely Democratic candidate, Bill White.
ConservativeHQ.com's Richard Viguerie was the keynote speaker at the Leadership Tea Party meeting in Dallas. A webcast of the entire meeting, plus new live presentations, will be held on Saturday, February 13.
Go here to learn What's Happening with Seniors Benefits:
Peggy Noonan, former speechwriter for President Reagan, thinks the fight over Obamacare is over and the plan will not be imposed on the country. But the New Republic's Jonathan Chait says the Democrats have a massive incentive to get it done and that procedural road is relatively easy.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has come up with a new plan that would provide for House passage of a reconciliation bill, followed by Senate passage (in which no filibusters would be allowed) and then House passage of the Senate version of Obamacare. Reid says there is a "strong possibility" this could go forward next week.
Go here to learn What's Happening with Christian Values:
Several NFL players have expressed their support for Tim Tebow's pro-life commercial that is scheduled to be aired during the Super Bowl. David Garrard of the Jacksonville Jaguars, David Akers of the Philadelphia Eagles, and Heath Miller of the Pittsburgh Steelers have endorsed Tebow's sentiments in the ad.
The Perry v Schwarzenegger case in California, which is challenging Proposition 8 passed by the people, could become the Roe v Wade for marriage. Alan Sears of the Alliance Defense Fund says the question is whether citizens have the right to govern themselves.
Have a great week!
Sincerely,
Richard A. Viguerie
