The nation's most influential conservative leaders have signed the Mount
Vernon Statement re-committing themselves to constitutional
conservatism.  ConservativeHQ.com's Richard Viguerie said that he hoped
the statement would separate the principled conservatives from the
politicians who want to expand government.

The latest poll shows Republicans with a 9-point lead over Democrats for
Congress.  When undecideds are factored out, the GOP would likely win
55.6% of the vote nationally, if they elections were held now.

New state polls show GOP candidates leading in races for the Senate in
Washington, Louisiana, and North Dakota and ahead for governor in
Pennsylvania.  Democratic Senate candidates are out front in Oregon and
California.

Benefits:

The February 25 "summit meeting" on Obamacare between the President and
12 Democratic and 9 Republican members of Congress is intended to be a
public relations ploy by the White House.  Obama will moderate the
"summit," which will be televised.

The GOP knows the "summit" is a trap, but they are compelled to attend.
White House spokesman Robert Gibbs says it would be hypocritical of
Republicans to refuse to participate.

While the "summit" will concentrate on the House and Senate versions of
Obamacare, polls show the American people want Congress to start over on
health care legislation.  Allowing health insurance to be sold across
state lines and reigning in the excesses of plaintiff lawyers will
probably not be seriously considered.

The Gallup Poll found that 41.6% of Americans go to church every week.
This represents an increase of seven tenths of one percent over the
previous year.

The highest states in church attendance are Mississippi, Alabama, South
Carolina, Louisiana, and Utah.  The lowest rates of church attendance
are in Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, and Nevada.

Cardinal Carlo Caffarra, who holds several key positions in the Vatican,
said that politicians who support homosexual marriages cannot be
considered to be Catholic.  This new statement was a reiteration of a
2003 document by then-Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, with the approval of
Pope John Paul II.
