Conservatives and the GOP:
With all precincts reporting, Scott Brown beat Martha Coakley by 109,425
votes. But his margin of 4.8% was smaller than some polls had
forecast, indicating that President Obama's last minute campaign may
have helped Coakley.
The election is a validation of a 2009 Gallup Poll showing that
conservatives outnumber liberals in all 50 states. Attractive,
articulate conservatives can win in any state.
One analyst said Coakley was "culturally out of step with Massachusetts
Democrats." Brown made outstanding visual use of his pickup truck to
show he was not an elitist.

Benefits:
On election night, Senator Jim Webb and Congressman Barney Frank spoke
out against any attempt by Democrats to pass Obamacare before Scott
Brown was sworn in as a senator or to unfairly manipulate parliamentary
rules. The next day, several other Democratic leaders, including the
President, made it clear no actions would be taken until Brown had taken
his seat.
The latest national poll shows only 38% of the people support Obamacare
with just 18% strongly in favor of the bill. 56% are opposed, including
44% who are strongly opposed.
It appears the Obamacare Bill might be scaled back to consensus reforms.
Democratic leaders are talking about coming up with new health care
legislation based on ideas that both parties can agree upon.

Values:
Scott Brown's election to the Senate has transformed the political
calculus regarding the confirmation of President Obama's ultra-liberal
nominees to judicial and executive positions. Not only is there a new
potential to sustain filibusters against radical leftists, many
Democratic senators now have a fear of the voters back home.
Focus on the Family will run a 30-second pro-life TV ad during the Super
Bowl on February 7. The ad will feature Tim Tebow, quarterback for the
University of Florida and 2007 winner of the Heisman Trophy, and his
mother with a personal story opposing abortion.
Have a great week!
Sincerely,
Richard A. Viguerie
