Conservatives and the GOP:
The NRA may endorse the re-election of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid
(D-NV) over stalwart conservative Sharron Angle. The chief lobbyist for
the NRA stated the NRA's mission does not include advancing "the goals
of the conservative movement."
Michael Steele, Chairman of the Republican National Committee, defended
the Tea Party from attacks by the NAACP. Steele said charges of racism
"are not true. Tea Party activists are your mom and dad, your local
grocer, banker, hairdresser, or doctor."
In 11 new state polls from Rasmussen Reports, Republicans lead in 7 and
Democrats in 4. Sharron Angle (NV), Roy Blunt (MO), Ken Buck (CO), Dan
Coats (IN), Bill Brady (IL), Bob Ehrlich (MD), and Marco Rubio (FL) are
ahead in their races.

Benefits:
The IOUs in the Social Security Trust Fund now amount to more than
$2.605 Trillion. So far this fiscal year, $100.982 Billion has been
"borrowed" from the Trust Fund and spent on the general operations of
the federal government.
Congressman Ron Paul (R-TX) has introduced HR 219, the Social Security
Preservation Act, to stop the raid on the Trust Fund. Congresswoman
Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) has introduced HR 1712, the Savings for Seniors
Act, to make sure Social Security surpluses are saved, not spent.
Both House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) and House Democratic
Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) have indicated it may be necessary to
raise the retirement age and means test Social Security benefits. "We
need to look at the American people and explain to them that we're
broke," Boehner said.

Secretary Kathleen Sebelius

d56311e647568f271956a6ea0312> to learn What's Happening with Christian
Values:
The ACLU has urged its members to contact Health and Human Services
Secretary Kathleen Sebelius to request that religious hospitals be
required to perform abortions. There is a "need for immediate federal
intervention" because religious hospitals deny abortions, the ACLU
explains.
The sample letter to Sebelius states in part, "Catholic hospitals
operate 15% of the hospital beds in this country and are often the only
hospital in a particular community and therefore the only place a woman
can obtain care." As a result, many pregnant women "do not share the
religious beliefs of the hospital."
If Elena Kagan is confirmed to the Supreme Court, she may not take
actions to recuse herself from legal challenges to Obamacare. As
Solicitor General, she likely considered the states' suit against it.
Under federal law, she should not participate in deciding a case to
which she was a party.
