The Social Security cash flow has suddenly turned negative.  One financial analyst said he was "stunned by the continued drop" in payroll tax receipts.

Former Social Security Commissioner Dorcas Hardy explained that the Social Security Trust Fund does not operate the way most people think of a trust fund.  The Office of Management and Budget verified that "the holdings in the trust funds are not assets...that can be drawn down in the future to fund benefits."

Hardy says the claims that the Trust Fund will pay Social Security benefits until 2037 are "naïve, confused, or--worse--untruthful." In fact, Doomsday could be at hand, i.e. full Social Security benefits may not be able to be paid for very long.

The General Accounting Office produced a new report showing the almost $1 billion in federal funding has been given to organizations that provide abortions, or support the abortion industry, from 2002 through 2009.  Congressman Mike Pence (R-IN) and 92 cosponsors have introduced HR 614, the Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act. 

Some big-time charities are able to engage in lobbying on legislation not directly connected to the purpose of the organization.  But small grassroots citizens groups must be extremely careful not to mix charitable work, lobbying, and political activities.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell will not campaign for Sharron Angle, the Tea Party-backed conservative Republican candidate in Nevada.  After winning the GOP Primary over a field of strong candidates, Angle leads Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid 50% to 39%.

Seven national polls have produced widely different results for congressional elections.  The average of all the polls is Republicans 42.8%, Democrats 42.7%.
