Benefits:

The New York Times reports that lawsuits challenging the
constitutionality of Obamacare could actually invalidate the new law.
Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum is leading the effort, joined by
20 other states, to put an end to Obamacare.

The Justice Department will attempt to defend Obamacare, citing the
Commerce Clause in the U.S. Constitution. The case will be heard
September 14 in Pensacola before senior federal judge Roger Vinson, an
appointee of President Reagan.

The latest poll finds that, by a 2 to 1 margin, people believe Obamacare
will make the quality of health care worse, rather than better. 56% of
the voters want to repeal Obamacare, while 37% want to keep it.

Rep. Alan Mollohan (D-WV)

Values:

Congressman Alan Mollohan (D-WV), a so-called pro-life Democrat, was
defeated in the primary by State Senator Mike Oliverio, who criticized
Mollohan for supporting Obamacare. Mollohan lost big, 37,504 (55.8%) to
29,716 (44.2%).

The Susan B. Anthony List and other pro-life groups campaigned against
Mollohan. Marjorie Dannenfelser said, "Just as Bart Stupak did,
Congressman Mollohan now fully realizes that votes do have consequences.
Mollohan's loss comes as a direct result of his vote for healthcare
reform that included federal funding of abortion."

Coming just after the Supreme Court had OK'd the Mojave Desert Cross,
someone has stolen it. Joseph Infranco of the Alliance Defense Fund
said, "What the ACLU could not accomplish in court, intolerant cowards
are now trying to do through crime."

Sen. Arlen Specter (D-PA)

Conservatives and the GOP:

Florida Governor Charlie Crist, who recently switched from Republican to
independent to run for the Senate, may become the de facto Democratic
candidate. Congressman Kendrick Meek, the official Democratic
candidate, could receive only token support from President Obama and
liberal leaders.

Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter, who switched from the Republican
Party to the Democratic Party, may lose the May 18 Democratic Primary to
Congressman Joe Sestak. If Sestak wins the primary, GOP candidate Mike
Toomey could have a much tougher general election race than he would
against Specter.

Only 41% of Alaska voters would support Sarah Palin for President.
Unhappiness with her resignation as governor halfway through her first
term has soured residents of the state on her.

New polls in 9 states show the GOP ahead in 5, the Democrats in 4. In
Ohio, the Democrat leads by 1 point for senator, while the Republican
leads by 1 point for governor.

Have a great week!
