[Apologetics] Obamacare is increasing health costs, limiting coverage, and hurting Medicare

A Personal Note: It has been three weeks since I've written these
newsletters, as I was in Texas for my father's funeral. As a result, we
missed one week and my colleague, Kirk Raymond, wrote the newsletters
last week.

At the viewing service the night before my father's funeral, I spoke
about him.

The Mass of Christian Burial was said by Bishop Vincent Rizzotto at St.
Cecilia's Catholic Church in Houston, where our family had been a
founding member. I read the first reading, from Wisdom 3:1-6,9.

I'm happy to be back and hope you find the information in the three
newsletters to be valuable.

Benefits:

The Heritage Foundation has published two reports which document how
Obamacare is increasing premiums for health insurance, forcing companies
to stop offering some coverage, and hurting Medicare. Health and Human
Services Kathleen Sebelius has threatened to put companies out of
business that blame Obamacare for these actions.

The Hill reports that President Obama has admitted that he knew all
along his health care proposal would raise costs. But he claimed last
March the bill "would bring down the cost of health care for millions."

The latest Rasmussen Report found that 61% of the American people want
to repeal Obamacare, while just 33% want to keep it. 53% believe the
new law will worsen the quality of health care, while only 20% think it
will get better.

Conservatives and the GOP:

Most of the polls point to a huge Republican victory in November. Linda
Saad, Senior Editor of the Gallup Poll, citing the lowest rating ever
for Congress in a midterm election, said, "a shake-up of the political
balance in Washington may be looming."

Some observers believe Democrats could do better than expected. The
average for 9 different polls shows only a narrow 3% GOP lead and Nate
Silver of the New York Times thinks many individual Democratic
candidates will do better than the generic poll results of the two
political parties.

In statewide Rasmussen polls, Republican candidates lead for the Senate
in Alaska, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, and
Wisconsin. Democratic candidates are ahead in Senate races in
California and Delaware, with a tie in Nevada.

Values:

A new poll finds that 80% of Americans believe students should be able
to pray at school events. Even 59% of those who don't practice religion
support allowing student speakers to pray at school activities.

Several pro-family leaders thanked Republican senators for blocking a
bill that would have permitted open homosexuals to serve in the military
and for abortions to be performed at military hospitals. Andrea
Lafferty of Traditional Values Coalition said the vote "is a victory for
our Armed Forces and our national security."

Homosexual activists said they will try again to pass this legislation
in the lame duck session after the November elections. The President's
spokesman verified that Obama will keep trying to get the measure
enacted into law.
