[Apologetics] Incredible, riveting video

Thanks, Dianne.  This is very interesting.

As noted in the telecast, the Church has NOT yet decided if this is real or not.  I don't think it is a hoax per se, but it is possible that this lady's mind is producing these wounds.  In medical history, the mind has sometimes been able to do amazing things to the body.

For instance, the placebo effect is real.  If you believe a medicine will cure you, even though a pill contains nothing of substance, in many cases, it will work.

One thing that Jesus allegedly said in the apparation may be inconsistent with Catholicism, i.e. there are no moral or venial sins--all sins are the same.  That contradicts St. John's 1st Epistle 5:16-17:

"If you see your brother or sister committing what is not a mortal sin, you will ask, and God will give life to such a one—to those whose sin is not mortal. There is sin that is mortal; I do not say that you should pray about that. All wrongdoing is sin, but there is sin that is not mortal."  (NRSV)

Thus, anything stated in an alleged apparation that is inconsistent with Scripture cannot be authentic.  But perhaps this lady misquoted or misunderstood Jesus.  If the apparation is real, maybe he meant that venial sins should be avoided too.  But he cannot have actually said that venial sins and mortal sins are the same.

I think this lady is sincere, but she is not unique.  I'd be willing to bet that, on any given day, there are hundreds (maybe thousands) of people in the world who think God has sent direct messages to them, sometimes telling them to do something, even illegal things.

I'd like to know more about this woman's background.  What medical problems, including mental problems, has she had in the past, if any?

I have a feeling the Church will not approve this matter.

This is the most incredible, riveting video I can remember seeing.  Each one of the three segments is approx. 12 min long but well worth it.  Whether or not you believe, you have to admit that it is captivating.
