Very religious Americans remain more likely than those less religious to
identify as Republicans or to lean toward the Republican Party, while
nonreligious Americans are significantly more likely to identify as
Democrats or lean Democratic. This religion-party identification gap has
persisted since Gallup began tracking it in 2008.
