I ask that you pay special attention to #2 and add your voice to the objectors of the HHS mandate.
Step 2: Contact HHS and Congress
"The HHS public comment periodends tomorrow, June 19!
Let HHS know that the Administration's so-called 'accommodation' doesn't fix the fundamental problems in its unjust mandate. Urge HHS to let all organizations and individuals offer, sponsor and obtain health coverage that doesn't violate their moral and religious convictions.
Then ask your Representative & Senators to support the Respect for Rights of Conscience Act and to ensure respect for the religious liberty & conscience rights of all participants in our nation's health care system." from USCCB.org.
Send an email to HHS and Congress. You are encouraged to personalize the message.
Tomorrow, June 19, is the last day for public comment so please send your letters today. All you have to do is fill in your name and address - they do everything else.
Dianne

>
>Gearing Up for the Fortnight for Freedom - Step 1 : Prayer and Repentance
>
>If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14
>
>As God's people, we are called to prayer and repentance. God's loving and solemn words to the Church in Ephesus were, "You have perservered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary. Yet I have this against you: You have forsaken your first love" (Revelation 2:3-4).
>
>Let us wholeheartedly love the Lord and call on his name. God's promises to us if we do are good.
>
>Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me; when you seek me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:12-13

>
>The attack on religious liberty goes much farther than the HHS mandate! We consider the following article to be so insightful and informative, that we are offering it to you again. If you have not done so already, please take the time to read Dr. Thomas Farr's presentation on "The Church and the Global Crisis of Religious Liberty":
>
>"Cardinal Dolan, Bishop Pates, eminences, excellencies, and assembled guests, it is an honor to be invited to appear before this convocation. I am grateful for the opportunity to address you on the subject of religious freedom -- a matter of increasing importance to the Church and to the world.
>
>Let me begin with two personal footnotes, both of which are relevant to my remarks.
>
>The first is that my wife and I were born and raised here in Georgia as Methodists. Our English and Scottish ancestors came to Georgia by way of the Carolinas, where they fought in the Revolutionary and Civil Wars that formed this great nation and its system of ordered liberty.
>
>I am a proud southerner who relishes the opportunity to "come home" to see my relatives, to return to the graves of my ancestors, and to visit the battlefields where they fought and died.
>
>The second footnote is that my family and I "came home" in a more profound sense when we converted to Catholicism twenty years ago this past Easter. That happy event took place in the diocese of Arlington, Virginia, where we now reside. I have the privilege of working at the nation's oldest Catholic university, Georgetown, where, as a former diplomat, I teach in the School of Foreign Service. I am also a senior fellow at Georgetown's Berkley Center, where I direct the Religious Freedom Project. Read more.
