CNS Sends 26,000 Signatures to Georgetown
The Cardinal Newman Society is sending to Georgetown University President John DeGioia the names of more than 26,000 people who joined an open letter urging Georgetown to cancel an invitation to Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius to speak at a diploma ceremony this Friday. The results are also being shared with Cardinal Donald Wuerl of Washington, D.C., and Pope Benedict XVI's ambassador to the United States, Archbishop Carlo Maria Vigano. Read more...
Statement from Archdiocese: Georgetown Shows 'Disregard to Bishops' | The Archdiocese of Washington has issued a statement calling Georgetown University's invitation to "pro-choice" HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius to speak at the Jesuit university on commencement day "unfortunate" and revealing an "apparent lack of unity with and disregard for the bishops."
