On similar lines, can we get government out of the marriage business?
Government marriage was a 20th century invention (before then all
marriages were common law), and its sordid initial purpose was to outlaw
mixed race marriages. (Similar to how government schools were created to
indoctrinate Catholic children.) While there are some legitimate
purposes to a government marriage license, e.g. disease screening, today
government clearly has no idea what a marriage is - so why get a
license? If I were getting married today, I would *not* get a
government license.
