Debates Are Valuable! Debates provide an important service. In a religious context, if people never talk to each other—never engage each other’s viewpoints—then the cause of evangelization doesn’t advance.

Debate and discussion are essential elements of spreading the good news, which is why St. Paul went into synagogues in every city to debate about Jesus.

Further, listening to debates helps people prepare for the discussions that are sure to come their way with family, friends, and acquaintances. Hearing two professionals debate an issue is beneficial for everyone.

That’s why there’s a need for good debates!
