Dear Gathnetters,
Apparently, my submission to gathnet on 3/26/04 was eliminated because
of security reasons so I will repeat that bit of info together with more
info for today (4/5/04)/
This has been a very pleasent week for us. It started out with a
celebration of Dennis Orr's 70'th birthday. The Orrs are gathnetters
living in Santa Barbara. Beth Orr is my first cousin and we grew up
together. They held the party at a "Western Steak house" which has the
reputation of cutting the neckties of anyone who enters. A fun time
was had by all who attended. Much of that family (who lives in the
Southern California region were there). We older people are glad that
Dennis paved the way to the 70's.
Last night (Thurs) Anne, Beth and Bertha Watts (the founder of the
closeby Indian Hills Camp) went to see Sound of Music being performed at
Christian Heritage College. Our church music director was the faculty
director of the musical. It was very well done even though Capt Von
Trapp broke his leg in a soccor match earlier in the week. He got
through the performance using a cane and it was perfect for the
character except for when he was trying to do a folk dance!
The home move project is "moving" along. I just got a better editing
system and have in house now over two hours of professionally produced
video. Some of these films I haven't seen in many many years. Of
particular interest to some of us who use to go to the Glen Ellyn Bible
Church will be interested in some church picnic pictures. They date
back to about 1941! One that I love particularly is a picture of my
mother and father holding me on a speed boat ride on the Fox river!
I have been given another task by our Baptist church to prepare a short
DVD about Bishop Mpango's work in Tanzania from our 1989 trip to Africa.
This is to inspire interest in the Bishop's visit to our church on
April 18.
(4/5/04)
Apparently the DVD was successful as our pastor wanted 5 copies to pass
around! Unfortunately, our church sound system distorted the sound a
bit so it wasn't as good there as it is at our home TV.
This last week was the usual busy schedule. We got our blood work done,
We had 4 B&B people for Saturday night. A Birthday dinner at Red
Lobster for Kiefer, choir practice and performance on Sunday. This week
proports to be the same with a final rehersal and two performances for
the "Last Words of Christ". Two doctors appointments etc.
Unfortunately, I sprained my ankle Sunday afternoon and have been
hobbling around. It seems to be healing OK and I can get around a
little bit better today. I hope and pray it is OK when the Bishop and
his wife get here. Unfortunately the weeds don't stop growing. In fact
we had about an inch of rain last week and the grass and weeds are going
full force.
Love to you all,
der alt Grosvater
