[Gathnet] Do not use Internet Explorer!

All,
There is a serious vulnerability in Internet Explorer (IE) that
has been exploited by some crooks, possibly from Russia: it has put
invisible code on many popular web sites. When you use IE to simply look
at that web page, it downloads a malicious program onto your computer.
This program tracks your key strokes and sends them to back to the
crook. In short: if you enter your VISA number it is toast.

Here is a quote from wired.com: "The infection makes subtle changes
to the site so visitors get a piece of code that's designed to retrieve
from a Russian website software that records a person's keystrokes and
can send data back, experts say. Such software "Trojan horses" are
routinely used to fish for credit card numbers, bank accounts, passwords
and the like."

There is no fix to IE. The current recommendation is not to use
IE. Instead, Firefox (which I installed on my computer) or something
similar should be used exclusively. It should be made your "Default
browser". More info at
http://www.wired.com/news/infostructure/0,1377,63994,00.html (but use
Firefox to read this).

If you use Firefox, you will not get this infection. However,
you may already be infected. I do not know if the infection is
detectable yet by standard anti-virus programs. For now I also recommend
that you not use your VISA card number even on Firefox or on any other
program such as Word, until your antivirus program can detect whether
this malicious software is on your computer.
