Dear Anne and Stu,

I hope all is well with you.
I am sorry I cannot say things are well here. Eli's
condition has been deteriorating and pretty suddenly
within a period of a couple odd days I noticed that he
had trouble walking and he falls more easily. The use
of his right hand is altogether gone so you can
imagine that all daily activities are very difficult.
He cannot speak and he cannot write and he doesn't go
out any more.
We went to our family doctor and she sent us to the
emergency room. That was pretty much of a waste.
After several hours his old surgeon - who was
consulted - said it doesn't do any good to do a CT
because it doesn't show anything and he should have an
MRI right away. The trouble is we only have one
scheduled for the 17th of the month and in spite of
all the 'urgent' doctors' notes, they simply can't
push him in earlier. He is on 'standby' and if there
is a cancellation...

In the meantime I have hired someone (a professional)
come in and help him and be with him while I am at
work as I cannot leave him alone anymore. I am
expecting to get more money from the social security
here as well as our private insurance company.

I am not managing very well with time and cannot seem
to get things done. The list seems endless. In
addition to work there are doctors'and dentists'
appointments for the kids and myself, meetings at the
kids' schools, glasses to fit for Ortal, air
conditioning to fix in the car, agencies to go to,
forms to fill etc. etc. plus the time it takes to
understand Eli if he wants to say something...
I have to find a new school setting for Ortal for next
year. There is a special class right here in town
which I am suppossed to visit next week. The problem
with that is that it is only for one year and then I
will have to find somehting else. Anyway I have to
examine some other options as well...

. . . . . . .

Love, Judy
