[Gathnet] Blessing of Protection

Hit a deer yesterday.

I came around a curve, close to our entry way, going a reasonable speed.
There was a deer which had come down the hill on one side, and was at
the side of the road. Having just come around the corner, I only had
half a second or less to brake. She, meanwhile, could not go back up
the embankment, so tried to cross in front of me.

Impact was on the left side of the car, and I focused on maintaining
control. I was instantly relieved to find that her final leap did not
put her at windsheild level, but apparently caught her hind quarters (I
guess that last 1/2 second of brakes helped). I remember vividly the
sight of flying deer, spinning wildly head over hoof over tail.

Damage is minimal. Plastic grill cover was broken, as was the bug
guard. The left light was pushed down, but I'm sure can be adjusted. A
small edge on the corner of the hood is pushed down a few millimeters.

I'm sure the deer was more scared than hurt, though I didn't go back to
check until this evening.

One might say that it's the price to pay for our wooded house, but,
frankly, I had more fairly close deer misses back in Ballwin.

The Lord is good!

Take care,
