[Gathnet] Reminder Invention Needed

Hello Gathnet Family,
    I have a question for many of you who are technical types.
    This may sound silly or dorky, but there is something I've wished I 
could have for a long time.
    I wish there was some kind of device, and I don't know what it would 
be, that would allow me to record a voice that would come on at various 
pre-set times of the day and remind me/us to do things.
    It would require speakers all over the place, but this is a small house.
    It would allow me to be able to concentrate more on something I'm 
doing in the house (school, etc.) without the constant underlying 
anxiety that I will forget to get in the car to pick someone up, etc.  
Yes, I do have a calendar.  I do look at it each morning.  But during 
the day, one of the things I would like "the voice" to say is, "Go look 
at the calendar."  For some important stuff, I need double and triple 
reminders.  I need it written on the calendar, I need notes taped up, 
and I need a voice reminding me.  Then, I could really relax and focus 
on something.
    If other people would like to tell me how you remember things, I 
would like to hear.
