Dear Gathnetters,
I must again appoligize for my lack of keeping you all up on the news here.
This place has been hectic since my last announcement that Anne had broken
her leg. I can't seem to get anything accomplished. Anne seems to need
something as soon as I sit down to do some serious computer work or any work
for that matter. In fact, I can't leave the house to go shopping with out
someone her to watch her. (We don't want her falling again as she uses the
walker to go the bathrooml etc.)
For the first about three weeks, the Doctor had hoped that the bone would
start to set in a cast without having to puncture the skin and working on
it. Unfortunately, when we looked at the Xray three weeks later, the bone
position was in an even worse position (in spite of the cast) than it was
the first day. Therefore the Doc advised surgery which inserted a metal rod
inside the bone and bolted into place through the bone to the rod. The rod
goes most of the way of her lower leg. He said the other smaller bone's
breaks would heal them selfs if the main bone was held steady.
She was in the hospital for several days for the operation and recovery.
She has been under our home care every since. Anita and Beth have teamed up
to releave me of nursing duties by helping at nights. While I did the
days. Things are now better in that I am able to handle the 24 hour duties.
Trips to the doctors are a lot of "fun" getting her to the back seat of the
car using a wheel chair and a walker. Reversing the process at the office
and then repeating the whole process again when getting home.
We have been changing the bandage and washing the surgerical wounds daily
and it is interesting to see the healing process take place day by day. God
sure made our bodies in a wonderful way to be able to heal them selves like
that.
We have not been able to do much of a job on Christmas this year. Our style
is greatly hampered with not being able to shop etc.
Anyway, we hope you all are having a wonderful Christmas. We appreciate
your prayers.
Sincerely, der alt Grossvater
